Welcome to the Gardening4Health Directory
We are aiming for this to be an accurate reflection of all the Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) providers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This includes charities, other non-statutory bodies, NHS gardens, Private providers and individual Therapists.
Through it, we hope people can find out what services are available in any given locality. Also we hope that the organisations themselves may be able to use it as a means of networking and liaising with like-minded Horticultural Therapy Practitioners.
If you are wondering why we haven’t included Scottish projects in the directory, the reason is that there already is an excellent similar database already available provided by the Trellis Network.
There has been a huge growth in this area, and we are very aware that the landscape is changing all the time, however, we hope we will be able to maintain it as a comprehensive and up to date list for people to use. This obviously relies on the army of staff, volunteers and members of the public out there letting us know of services that are not included, have changed, relocated or that have ceased to exist so that we can keep it up to date for others.
To do this, please use the form on the contact page.
To qualify for inclusion we have included only those that aim to provide active therapeutic programmes. Active is the key word in this process. For example, although they play a hugely important role for communities and individuals, we have not included unstaffed community gardens or allotments.
Lastly, and importantly, as the curator of the directory, we obviously cannot be held responsible for the organisations themselves. We are simply trying to publicise their existence.
